This is my second of these extra wide wool scarves/blankets (call it what you will). I bought a black one last year and used it all winter because it was so practical. I love the fact that it’s actually wool. (I have found it hard to find actual wool «pashminas».)These scarves have approximately the same thickness most «pashminas» you find on Amazon, and in this case that’s definitely a good thing because due to the width, there’s so much material that it wouldn’t be comfortable to wear the scarf around your neck if it were thicker. Just because it’s not thick doesn’t mean it’s not warm though. Wool is a great insulator, and I find these scarves very warm. Because they’re so wide, you can wrap it around yourself and throw one end over your shoulder and be covered from your neck down to your rear end. (I’m 5’9″ and not exactly svelte and there’s plenty of material for me to bundle up nicely in. (I mention this only because I think the people modeling these scarves are ultra-thin.}This week I used this scarf as a blanket while lying on the couch. Worked great. I’ve used it many time (well, last year’s actually} as a blanket while traveling on planes and trains. It folds up small because it’s not thick, so it’s perfect for travel. I live in North Carolina, and many winter days aren’t terribly cold – 30s or 40s during the day. If I’m just going out to do shopping, I’ll often just wear a light sweater and throw this over. No coat to lug around in the stores. If I get hot, I’ll tie it around my purse strap or tuck it in a shopping bag. It is also somewhat rain repellent. If it starts to drizzle, I just pull it over my head to keep my hair dry. Much of the water shakes off and it dries quickly because it’s thin.Now. the scarf I ordered last year didn’t smell great when it arrived. Not sure if it was the smell of the lanolin in the wool or something else, but it wasn’t great. It was also quite stiff. So I just washed it. I used Eucalan wool wash because I had it and because it’s good for wool and no rinse. That helped the smell greatly and softened the scarf up as well. I don’t think the grey scarf smelled as strongly as the black one did, but I washed it right away because I prefer the scarf when it gets a bit softer. The black scarf was still a bit stiff, so I rolled it between my hands for about ten minutes while watching tv one night. Perfect.tl;drThese scarves are fabulous. Tremendously versatile. Might be somewhat stiff and have a bit of an odor when new – just wash with Woolite or Eucalan in cold water and when dry, wear or work the fabric a little with your hands and you’ll have a perfect scarf/travel blanket. Used one for a year and bought a second one this year. Highly recommended.

Love that it is wool and an excellent size.Took this shawl overseas and am very happy I did. It isn’t too thick and was a perfect thickness for travel. Can be used as a scarf, shawl, covering of the head at certain places, warmth when on a plane/coach etc. I used it a lot.

The shawl arrived in plenty of time for XMAS. The color was beautiful and the feel of the material was wonderful. I have since seen similar items for 3-4 times the cost. A GREAT VALUE !!!!
